The Lawrence County Coroner serves as an investigator and determiner of an individual's death.  Coroners may be a physician or a law enforcement officer.  The Coroner may perform an examination of the scene in which the person died, and supervise the transportation of the body to the morgue.  Coroners who are medical examiners perform autopsies to determine the cause and time of death.
