Description

The Tax Claim Bureau collects delinquent property taxes for the county, plus twenty-three municipalities and three school districts located in Lawrence County.

The following taxing bodies file their delinquent property taxes with Portnoff Law Associates (City of New Castle, plus the Ellwood, Laurel, Mohawk, Shenango and Wilmington School Districts).

We conduct two sales each year in accordance with the PA Real Estate Tax Sale Law: one in April (Judicial Sale also known as the Free and Clear sale) and one in September (Upset Sale). The properties to be auctioned off are published 30 days before each sale in the New Castle News and Ellwood City Ledger and lists are available for purchase at that time.

We can be reached at phone (724) 656-2125 or by emailing taxclaim@lawrencecountypa.gov. If for some reason there is a problem reaching us at this number, please feel free to visit us at our office M-F from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM except holidays, and we will assist you with your concerns.

Just a reminder: We DO NOT accept personal or business checks. All payments must be made with cash or cashier’s check/money order made payable to Lawrence County Tax Claim Bureau. We also accept credit or debit card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express) but a convenience fee of 2.45% is added to the amount paid.
