Genealogy & Naturalization

The National Archives states that Naturalization is the process by which an alien becomes an American Citizen, and the associated records can provide a researcher with information such as a person's birth date and location, occupation, immigration year, marital status, and spouse/children information, witnesses' names and addresses, and more.
Lawrence County Orphans’ Court has Naturalization Records dating back to the mid 1800’s to present day. You can obtain Naturalization Records by sending a written request to our office. A $20.00 research fee (for each person being researched) is required at the time of the search. Our fees are payable by cash or money order only. Please make your money order(s) payable to “Lawrence County Orphans’ Court”.
This office is unable to “certify” Naturalization Records, as we only have copies in this office. We offer a service called the “Triple Seal” which attests to the authenticity of the document. The fee for the Triple Seal is $10.00. Please send a separate money order for the Triple Seal so if no records are found that fee can be returned to you, along with a certified diligent search letter.
Please include your name, telephone number, and email address in case we need to contact you.
**Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope, large enough to accommodate a legal sized packet (12x9)**
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact our office directly at (724) 656-2440.
